Code of Conduct

Y-RANT has the ambitious aim of bringing together the young researchers of algebraic number theory in the UK, and thus we have a few rules to encourage a welcoming, respectful and inclusive atmosphere. These rules can in some sense be summed up as be polite, remember you are among colleagues and at work. We expect you to behave appropriately with this in mind, and we hope you have both a productive and joyful mathematical experience at the conference.

Concrete Expectations:

For the purposes of this conference, all participants are encouraged to:

  • Actively participate in the conference activities,
  • Engage in positive interactions with other participants,
  • Behave in an appropriate way.

Furthermore, we strictly expect that the participants:

  • Don’t insult people,
  • Don’t harass people,
  • Don’t deliberately disrupt the events,
  • Don’t break the laws of England or Nottingham university rules.

In the event a participant does not adhere to this code of conduct and the situation allows it, we hope a reminder of these rules will suffice and any inappropriate behaviour stops without delay. If the breach is too severe, we might have to ask you to leave without any refunds.

If you have any concerns or need help at the conference, please contact us at yrant.vii@gmail.com or by any other means.

Examples of prohibited behaviours:
  • Insulting comments (including, but not limiting to, those related to gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race and religion),
  • Inappropriate language and images in talks,
  • Deliberate intimidation or stalking,
  • Harassing photography or recordings,
  • Sustained disruption of talks or other events,
  • Inappropriate physical contact,
  • Unwelcome sexual or other forms of attention.
